So You Want To Get a Mathematics Degree

I provide a brief summary of what kind of material is covered during a mathematics degree. The purpose of this is not to teach you any content but to give an idea of what you would learn. I did my degree in NZ so the structure will be different from other international degrees, and was only 3 years in duration.

As always I am very happy to answer any questions about what it is like to study mathematics (and physics) at university. I can also explain any of the concepts mentioned in more depth or point you towards further material.

My favorite maths course was logic. I wasn't even that good at it, but that's what I find most beautiful in maths. And I don't know how after all of my years on the internet, I hadn't seen that _I love math. It makes people cry!_ It's hilarious. And that chart is pretty accurate. :D

Mhh I've already done everything you need for first year :D I'll graduate HS this summer and am still contemplating if I should do math or computer science... I think I'll do computer science at a Uni that puts a big focus on math :D

You said you saw new stuff in university which includes integration of trigonometric functions, system of linear equations, vectors in 3D, series and sequences and probability, you didn't learn this in high school?
Also I can't wait to learn multiveriable calculus and integration, it looks very interesting

And the analysis thing somehow reminds me analytical geometry, are they the same?

I have absolutely no interest at all in making money out of Mathematics. I want to get a Degree in Mathematics and am reading one on my own. No one knows more than I do how ridiculously difficult it is. And I love it.

I am an electromechanical engineering student, but I love mathematics and physics. Always thought that when I get my degree, I'll pursuit a degree in math.

I'm quite glad that where I study math (In Finland) we don't do much calculations and calculus because IMHO it's not that interesting or deep. One of my favorite course was Topology I (theory of metric spaces) and then years later topology II. Somehow the impactful results there got me to realize that how interconnected mathematics is. Now I'm quite interested in continuing my studies to phd.

I love to study high mathmatics along with electrical ad physics, but the hell is I don't want to learn it alone, there are thousands of thinking in my mind which I want to pop out on someone 😔
But here I am alone 😯
