6 Strand Matthew Walker

The Matthew Walker is a decorative knot common in the world of nautical knot craft. As is the case with so many knots it had it's beginnings as a decorative yet functional knot when it was used as a stopper knot in ships rigging.

Great tutorial and well explained what type of rope did you use for this knot as I noticed it held its shape well whilst you were tying it the rope that I have been using doesn’t seem as ridged once again thanks great tutorial

I tried 10 strands with bailing twine, not recommended and impossible.
Thanks for the 6 strand, will try this with some rope I have.

What did you use for the constrictor knot and what is the name of the braid you started off with?

I think it was a suggestion to go the other direction, not specifically the two movements.
