I just started watching The Mentalist and this look is very Patrick Jane (the main character) He wears a lot of 3-piece suits, but there's a lot of times he's wearing the outfit without the jacket, just the waistcoat shirt and trousers.

Really love the second!!! IMHO if not wearing a blazer it looks better when vest and trousers belong to the same palette. Anyway, all your outfits are always amazing

It looks better without a tie. I tried to wear matching grey flannel vest and trousers with a red tie and it wasn´t bad, but you can really look like part of a staff. Combo of plain trousers and some patterned vest without a tie is a fantastic idea.
