The medieval tactical RPG Mount and Blade II Bannerlord launched on March 30th with great success, hitting a peak concurrent player base of 228,071 on Steam, within the first 48 hours. Even though the game is on Early Access, it is still missing some features and contains some bugs (according to a developer post before launch), but fans were eager to get their hands on the long waited game.

However, Mount & Blade II Bannerlord can be a very challenging game, and there is a steep learning curve, especially at the beginning. Even players who are veterans of Mount and Blade: Warband may find themselves a bit overwhelmed, so we’ve decided to put together a guide showing you a few things that might just make getting started a bit easier for you.

A proper guide, not those wanna be guide creators that talk +30mins and you learn nothing at all (in matter of fact you get bored). Well explained, short and precise guide, good job man. I enjoyed your Pillars of Eternity videos, I am looking forward to watch MnB 2 guides here ^^

This is the clearest and best guide I've found. New to bannerlord and finding it quite the learning curve so appreciate the time you've taken to make this. Subscribed!

Somehow, even with 2 years of time with the developers constantly updating it (which is a good thing) this still stands as an excellent method. Honestly, when I first started, I thought it would take me hundreds of hours before I even got my first major city but with this guide, I'm able to take it at a leisurely pace. Thanks!

Do NOT try and be a jack of all trades. Try to specialize your character and then later hire companions to cover your weaknesses. Leveling up is hard in this game and being a master of none will cause you to spin your tires for HOURS.

I just bought the game and have played for 24 hours straight with no idea of what I'm doing but it's so much fun. I'll use your video to start my next character, thanks.

My first attempt, I tried to hire as many as I could about 22 archers. then I started raiding the smaller villages of the kuzeits. after 10 mins I had 5000 dinars. Then I got hunted down and slaughtered.

First, amazing guide and very accurate, I love the no nonsense just facts way you present this. Second, I see alot of frustration in this game from people. I get it. Its rough, truly is unforgiving as well. Although, i would say the biggest thing you can do to make yourself fail, is to rush combat. Take your time, take your time. Remember a couple things your mount has 3 speeds all achieved by a simple click of w, why is this important? If you are charging full speed at the enemy with a lance great, with a bow no go. With a bow you need to do a nice trot, keep enemy to the sides of you not the front. If you need to gather yourself ride off a bit let them come to you. Most fails I see or hear about are because people don't get this is a "realistic combat" game. You can just gears of war yourself into an enemy then back up and drink a potion. You need to use 2 of the most valuable tools to any Bannerlord, planning and patience. Hope this helps, wish you all the best in your battles ahead.

I started with the campaign and immediately fell into trading as it was making me decent profits to keep going. My issue was I am kinda tied to the main campaign missions. I started a sandbox game recently and it became different. A lot more frustrating as the bandits and looters are everywhere but I am actually enjoying the challenge so far. I've been captured probably 5 times now but it makes it rewarding when I take down a group of 5-10 on my own and keep soldiering on.

Hmm, that is an interesting way to play at the start. Will consider it as you are much faster alone or few on horses.

To any new viewers, beware of being cocky, I’ve played a couple of the other mount and blade games, I always managed to rally my boys to a good amount and we had strength, me beginning was good and my money was aplenty, you know what my downfall always was? Thinking that I was the big bad wolf of the map, never think that, there’s always a bigger fish in the pond, I’d think I was tough and try to face a king. It always ended with a new game as I got my ass handed to me and my entire play ruined, failure isn’t the end but being the cocky bugger I was I always thought failure meant I had to restart, never be afraid to lose but never get too cocky

so people are giving up and quitting and saying that doing this method playing a solo archer at first is worth playing the game now? sounds like a waste of time?
