I started running for endurance, stamina and weight loss. I ran yesterday after not running since October. I am so happy to be doing this again although I am so sore. I want to run today again.

Awesome reminders, great video! I'm training for my second 50k, and learned that checking in with your physical form/ sensations (minor irritations, hunger, etc.) as well as reminding yourself WHY your putting yourself through the prolonged mental and physical discomfort are absolutely key to finishing those long training runs and crossing the finish line on race day. Keep em coming coach!

Great video! Nice to hear the mental side of running, not just physical. I find that watching running videos on YouTube just gives me a little boost before I go out and run. In other words, mental preparation is key.

That was totally me, last Saturday. Went out to do a 20 miler but ended up doing only a half marathon, even though I felt fine. I just realised that I am very much a "watch watcher" and it's hurting my running. This was helpful, thanks

That's all very true!

For the watch though - if you're like me and like data or just can't stop checking it.... if you gps watch allows it, make yourself a screen that is composed solely of "current values". For instance I have one that's my current pace, my HR and my cadence. Thus when I look at it, it doesn't tell me anything about time/distance, only what's happening now. So I can still check my watch, but without the demotivational downsides.

Love this encouragement video. Not to be cliche but it can be mind over matter sometimes. I try to distract myself when i feel like i am losing the mental battle. Checking those run cues, posture cadence, breathing are great distractions.

That's why km markers drive me crazy on races. I actively look the other way when a marker approaches. If I catch a glimpse, I swear aloud...

I focus on counting each exhale up to 7 and then back down to 1 as I’m running, it keeps my mind off the discomfort. I got the counting idea from a meditation Wim Hof noted in his book

That's why I hate running on a treadmill.... I keep watching the dashboard seeing the distance

All you said is accurate. Ultimately think you need to enjoy it too, mmmm the endorphins. Addicted to it.
