No offense but side planks are not going to build your obliques. The thing is, side plank is an isometric contraction where your body is fixed in one position without any change in muscle length. If you actually want growth and deeper cuts in your obliques then you need an exercise with a shortening and a lengthening phase of the muscle contraction and that is why you should try side plank dips.

This is the biggest lie I did side planks for about 6 months and I have really nice obliques( really really nice)

These are called side tucks, right? I tried to do them but they felt kinda awkward and i felt like I was damaging my back, it's probably because of my form but i don't really know

Dont do this. This causes weird and unnecessary load on the discs. Side plank is the best exercise for longevity

I do regular side planks for apineal stability and health. I dont need more mobility there i need more stability to protect my disc herniations

I did this today a d felt it on my obliques. Also you can test which side is weaker or stronger than the other. As a massage therapist I suggest this for the spinae erector muscles and obviously your core❤

Ignore obliques if you can't see your abs. Especially if you're doing it for aesthetics because it will make you look fatter lol.

I don't want to build my obliques. I just wanna make them hard and strong. Big obliques make you look boxy.

Hypertrophy can result from isometrics this is very silly. There are many exercises that start in the isometric training phase, like learning a handstand or preparing for pullups. This is one-sided advice, train the static, essentric, and concentric equally, or even just the eccentric and static, thats where the most hypertrophy happens.

False. Shortening and lengthening will not create any more stimulus than static exercise will.
