Reading the Essay that Got Me Into Harvard | Personal Statement | Indonesian Student

Hi friends! I am Wai from Indonesia, Harvard Graduate School of Education class of 2023. In this video, I am reading the personal statement that got me into Harvard. I edited some parts and took out some sentences that I find too personal but I still try to maintain the flow of the essay :)

It took me a while to build the courage to share my essay in public (and to edit the personal parts without losing the main points hehe), I hope you find this video helpful! I remember when I was writing my essay, I learned A LOT from other people sharing their essays on YouTube and I want to contribute to future applicants by sharing mine too!

Hi, I can definitely say that you aced your Harvard application with your essay. You are one of a kind. I was looking for a winning essay example as I am preparing a master's degree scholarship application. However, your essay made me reflect and question my purpose again. I don't have an exceptional life story like yours and I am a total mediocre. One of the reasons why I want to go after grad school is because since I graduated in 2021, I have never been accepted by any companies that I applied to. Meanwhile, I desperately want to have a career in the environmental sector or marine science-related field. So, I thought grad school is a good idea to elevate my qualification, skills, and knowledge. But now, I still question myself. Anyway, you're a star and I am sure you'll excel in your study at Harvard.
