when i loked on this i remember game from 2016-2018 when you are murder and you need secretly kill king when you kill king you repleced with ex king

Tbis definitely can work as a task horror game where you do stuff and have to keep amd eye on him but takss get progressively harder to complete to check on npc

It would be abit more better if the NPC would Alternate its Walking by a Friendly Walk like Idk Waving at the Direction of the Player if he was Looking at the NPC from Far and the Suspicious Walk (Just a small Idea while I'm here)

This made me remember a certain game from the 2020’s, about some beans with visors that voted each other out, because one didn’t fit, I don’t remember the name of the game, and to keep this among us; oh how I wish to be young again

Better Idea:
Have the NPC go back and forth while the player was looking away and turn away just as the player looks at them

This is awesome, although a separate walking animation where they aren’t holding the knife out might be best, or just replace both walking animations and make it try to be inconspicuous either way
