Just so you all know, withers sat in your camp and resurrecting you, knowing full well he could’ve obliterated the nether brain from existence with a thought. Ao would probably destroy him if he intervened too much, but jergal is infamously petty (he quit being the god of death because he was fed up of it and would just makes notes on who died than do actual god duties) so decided to help anyway in the only way he knew would not piss off Ao.
