number 21: finishing your current run instead of starting a brand new one for the 5th time

Ooh I've got one to add! Some late-game enemies have the "Unstoppable" status effect, where they have a number of Unstoppable charges - one charge is burnt the next time they take a hit, reducing the damage from that hit to 1hp. Don't burn high level slots on an Unstoppable enemy! Instead, I found that if you hit them with Magic Missile, every dart triggers the effect, so you can burn down their charges in one turn. Super duper effective!

Actually, for Wizards, the fastest way to learn multiple scrolls is to go to the spellbook tab and click on the book icon just under the class actions, that will open a new window with all scrolls that you have that the Wizard doesn't know yet, then you just mark the ones you want and learn all at once.

for tip #4, you don't have to blindly shovel the ground until you find something. when you know one is near, open the map and zoom in. the ground with the hidden chest is a slightly different color and can be noticed pretty easily on most maps

Oh, I have one! If you’re fighting invisible enemies, but don't have the spell, any potions, or scrolls of See Invisibility, try selecting Jump and drag the circle around. Two characters cannot occupy the same space, and you'll find a spot you cannot jump to.

I have found that melee attacks have a hard time landing, but Arrows, Ray attacks, or Splash damage items will reveal your hiding foes.

With karlach I threw that adamantine scale mail armor on her and never looked back. Lowers damage, can't get critical hit, melee atackers suffer reeling.. she became a beast.

One lesson this game has taught me over and over and over again, SAVE OFTEN. A casual, peaceful exploration session, or just a conversation gone wrong can turn into an unexpectedly difficult fight.

I think many people don't realize how much loot, gold and XP you can get on the Nautiloid at the start of the game. It *may* necessitate playing on Explorer and/or savescumming temporarily, but not only can you kill Commander Zhalk and the Mindflayer (be sure you or the Mindflayer kill Zhalk, then kill the Mindflayer for 150XP instead of only 75), but the two Cambions who show up afterwards as well - all with a few turns left over to reach the transponder. The developers give you four handy Nautiloid Tanks that you can grab (one by Shadowheart's pod) and place. If you figure out where the Cambions dash to you can have the tanks right there for a quick firebolt and massive explosion. It's possible to drop one or both below half HP like this. Doing this allows you be level 3 before meeting Withers *or* fighting the Goblins at the gate. Not even remotely necessary, but still fun.

Also to expand on the 'sending to camp' tip: I recommend picking up a bunch of chests/crates/bags/etc (preferably different looking ones to better recognize them) and send them to camp to use IN your traveling chest as a means to organize it up and find your stuff better, cause you can store things in them even while they're in the traveling chest. Hugely useful if you're a huge hoarder like me but like things to be tidy.

For the alchemy chapter, good news everyone: Larian released Patch 4 today and among the notes they say they've now made it possible to chose which ingredient you want to use for the right corner of the triangle. No bag wizardry required.

Some tips:
- If you are playing cold/lightning wizard, make sure to carry a lot of water balloons and summon mage hand before a fight. Drop water balloon (can do that even it's not your turn) and have the mage hand throw it at your enemies to cause wet status. Your enemies will be vulnerable to cold/lightning spells aka taking doubled damage. You can do similar things for a fire wizard: let the mage hand throws grease bottles to your enemies then ignite them with fireball.
- Due to its mobility, the mage hand is also a good supporter for rogues. Just move it close to an enemy and your rogue can use sneak attack without advantage requirement.
- There is a hammer in act 1 allows you to cause 1-4 aoe thunder damage when jumping. Equip it on a monk, use Step of Wind (jumping requires no bonus action), with some buffs like longstrider, items like helm of haste to increase movement, you can jump like 10+ times per turn, dealing 10~40 aoe thunder dmg to your enemies. You can double the damage by having another character equipping Phalar Aluve and using Shriek. Deal even more damage by adding some Cleric level to get Guardian spirits. Later on you can find a pair of boots that prones your enemies when jumping.

The most important tip for alchemy period: Have a hireling with medicine proficiency, make them a transmutation wizard, spec them into rogue for extra medicine proficiency and have a cleric cast guidance and enhance ability on them... Tada! 2 potions every craft.

Just a tip for the executioner ability from killer’s sweetheart for everyone: It turns ANY attack into a critical hit, regardless of attack roll. The key thing is that it doesn’t specify “successful attack roll” like Luck of the Far Realms. So you CAN turn that Nat 1 into a Nat 20 guys!

One of the situations that really broke my "dont save scum, play as it goes" was the Isobel fight. Her getting knocked prone and turn 1 killed made me and my friend sit there like "huh, well we'll see how this goes" and it was bad enough that we didnt want to continue that doomed fate.

No dishonor in playing the game how you want.

6:37 Minor error here: Executioner turns an attack roll into a Critical Hit, not a successful attack roll. This means that would turn the critical miss into a critical hit. That’s part of why Executioner is so good.

Another note on shop inventories: they also refresh on level-ups. This means you could visit Withers with a hireling or something, reset them, and go sit next to whatever shop you like checking their inventory every time you complete a level-up with the hireling. This can be much more convenient than using long rests for fairly obvious reasons.

I usually collect scrolls and potions with "until long rest" duration.
Then before a big set of battles/bosses I just buff the entire party with so many spells, potions and scrolls that the icon's of active effects stretch over half the screen.
Going into battle with tons of resistances, immunities and extra effects.

"BG3 gives you so much freedom to think outside of the box, and we have been forced to think inside the box for so many games for so long now, it's really hard to actually do that." THIS!! I've been trying to explain this to people. Perfectly said, thank you!!

Another tip: Hold person is an incredibly useful spell. Handy not just to stun a strong enemy while you pummel them but also a way to gang up on lone guards without alerting the rest of the base. Can also be casted in a few quests where you are supposed to stop a target from fleeing. Recruiting Minsc is easier with hold person.

For the Longstrider tip, have Gale cast it on each companion in camp after your long rest. If dont want to have Gale in your party, your party members can still enjoy the benefits of longstrider while Gale sits in camp. Plus you can freely switch out party members without having to recast it for the entire day.

If you get Halsin in your party, then you can have either him or Gale cast it on the party, stay in camp, and take the other in your party, allowing the other to prepare a different spell and not have Longstrider take up a precious prepared spell spot.
