TEST FOR THYROID
The thyroid gland is one of the most important in a person’s body, as it helps to balance hormones, regulate heartbeat, maintain an ideal weight, provide energy, stabilize cholesterol, keep menstrual cycles regular, and encourages muscle growth. When a person has a deficiency of iodine, it hampers the production of thyroid hormone. When a person shows deficiency symptoms, an iodine deficiency test is done.

In this test, a sample of the person’s urine is collected in the morning for an iodine spot test. After that, 50 mg of iodine is ingested, and urine is collected throughout the day till the next morning. Then all the urine samples are sent to the laboratory. If the body has a sufficient amount of iodine, then at least 90 percent of it will be excreted into the urine. However, if there is a deficiency of iodine, then less amount of it will be excreted, as the body will try to hold on to the iodine to make up for the deficiency. After the test results, a person is given iodine supplements if he/she is seen to have a deficiency. Your doctor can tell you if you are suffering from thyroid and will provide medication for the same.

You can also first do the DIY home patch/skin test to see if you are deficient and then seek additional help.

Iodine deficiency is common but most people are not aware of this. Eating iodine-rich foods is one of the ways to ensure that you have the optimal amount of it in the body. But just guessing is not ideal. A test is the best way to know if you are deficient. It will also help you to prevent thyroid problems.

I just read a book: the Mineral fix. One of the main conclusions was that the RDA references ranges are set to prevent certain disease (like goiter). But the optimal range for the whole body should be way higher for most minerals.

The audio In this video is horrible. Great information, but please get a better mic, if you haven't already (this video is 2 years old so you may have corrected the issue already) to ensure people are benefiting from the good information that you're sharing. THUMBS UP

Of course what seems to be missing here is that selenium is necessary for the iodine to correctly function. Iodine and selenium are synergistic, and each needs the other to perform correctly.

Great video! Many people don’t know how important Iodine is to maintain good health. Keep on educating people so we can make a dent into big Pharma’s profits.

My patch was gone in less than 5 hours. I think a contributing factor for me is water fluoridation. I learned that fluoride inhibits the absorption of iodine.

I put tincture of iodine on my skin. However I put it on my few skin tags and a small wart on my finger. After a couple hours noticed the color was gone. So I kept treating those bumps one time a week. After a couple months all were gone.

I've just ordered some iodine drops. I've been low carb for >2.5 years (since earlier this year eating a lot more meat and the fat that comes with it) and my skin is dry; my forearms are very wrinkly - I'm 66 year old female. My legs get scaly patches of dry skin that lift off in small circles. I don't have any of the really common symptoms (at least obvious ones) of iodine insufficiency, but I'm hoping that by supplementing iodine that my skin will improve. Oh yes, I get splits on my fingers when my nails get too long, which they do now quite often because my nails are now very strong and seem to grow faster than they did.

I did the 24 hour iodine loading urine test for accuracy and know where I am at . I found out I’m moderate deficient. Thanks to my green sea veggies powder however not enough for optimum

Hi there Judy! You are a force in this community! TY for your support! My husband has had some thyroid needle extractions coming back "indeterminant" (he's 56) and will be seeing an endocronologistf to determine the next steps both he and they will take. He had some sort of nodules on it but 2 tests came back at 'not cancer', but indeterminate. *We'll definately be taking his doctor's advice 100% as to partial removal, but we also think it is reasonable to ask for another 6 month needle extraction and perhaps ultrasound at the same time in six months to see if following keto is going to be of some help to shrink any nodules/lesions as they called them. -So, out of curiosity, we did this patch test last night and firstly, his was very oddly difficult to even paint on...seemed very runny and acutally turned a very deep color right away...and never faded at all! -as in...not even a bit. -The nice thing to think is that his idodine is picture perfect, but that would be completely surprising, given what is happening in there with lesions and the lines on his fingernails, his fatigue and weight gain, not to menton the cold hands at times and feet, and he never eats anything from the sea. -I'm just wondering about if it doesn't fade at all. We're both at the 10 hour mark but it will be interesting to see how long his remains. :) TY for listening and hugs from Alberta! <3

You mentioned some people experience negative symptoms if they take too much, what type of symptoms? Curious in order to be aware. Thank you!

Great to have this tool, thank you!! I’ve been taking 1 drop of lugol’s every other day. I started with it once a week, then twice. I have all the symptoms of severe iodine deficiency but I also have MCAS and I’ve learned the hard way that everything I need to get healthy makes me very sick in the short term and I have to introduce things super slowly. It’s happened with milk thistle, chlorella, TUDCA, melatonin, and lots of other things. It’s so good to have ways to test our levels of anything at home.

I always thought the skin patch test was inaccurate. As well as blood tests. Hakala labs has a super accurate test but it's also expensive. Oh well.

Can I have more details on the tincture? Is it providone iodine, or 2% tincture? There’s different types on Amazon and it’s causing confusion for me! Thank you 🙏
