Foreigner Chased by Indian Beggars in Delhi

There are a lot of beggars in India, particularly in Delhi. This encounter was particularly difficult. I refused to give money, but they did not react to this at all.

Eventually, I had to make a run for it to escape. As I did so, other beggars joined the chase and I had to make a break for it across the street to get away.

In most cases, I NEVER give money to beggars (there are exceptions). Sometimes I buy food, but mostly what I prefer to do is donate to organizations that specifically work with getting people off the street.

Begging should be made illegal in India

They are trained to keep begging till you melt or feel ashamed. Sad for the kid but harsh reality.

You can grab their hand, smile while menacingly looking in their eyes without letting go and start going to the alleyway, I promise you they will never ever do that again
