For longevity 9 is an upgrade to 8 because you can change the lens in case it scratches.

Gopro is NOT the ONLY camera that is fit for ANY situation. It is missing a very important feature: Live Preview when recording is not supported. I like to use the Live Preview functionality on my phone to see what I'm recording. In the GoPro app, as soon as I start a recording, the live preview disappears and I get "Preview not available."
Without this feature, Gopro 9 is useless in many of my recording situations.

It's a decent camera BUT only in bright conditions. When it's dark, no matter what settings you'll use, picture sucks. I hope that next generation of Hero will have at least something similar to what we know as a "Night mode" on smartphones. And I see no reason to place the same processor in 10th gen. Hero 9 is my very first GoPro, so far I'm happy with it, just don't like the absence of Night mode as I mentioned before and I still can't get used to fast (if we compare it to smartphones) battery drain. But so far, yeah, I like it.
P.S. Why it's impossible to simply drop the videos to Flash drive and watch them on TV? I mean the TV doesn't support the format of videos...?

Just got one and it's nice but unless there is a ton of light, the video is grainy even at 4k and 5k. Also for 400 bucks, not getting a manual was weird.

Thanks for the review man. I've been using a hero 4 Silver since it came out and would've kept using it had i not lost it. The 4 has worked flawlessly and always delivered great video. But i lost it while filming so i just ordered my 9 black. Excited as heck to start recording fishing videos in this super high quality

I've had gopro 9 for over a year now, i and i like it.
But for last 3 months the camera is shutting off, due to low battery warning, even when it has 25 to 35% battery
life left.I use it for my mountain bike only in a steel mount cage.Then i put on a desk and not moving at all,
and the battery goes to 0% and then shuts off.That's a weird thing that happens with my gp 9.
