I sold my hero 7 black after the hero 9 was announced. I waited a few months to grab it though because of early adopter bugs; I'm glad most of them are ironed out. I haven't had any freezing issues with my hero 9, but have definitely noticed the laggy screen compared to my H7B.
Image quality, stabilization and the horizon leveling are amazing and the features I bought the hero 9 for. I have a max lens on the way for the horizon lock and leveling on wider angles.

I am upgrading from a Hero3+ that has been put through its paces over the last 6 yrs. Despite its quirks it looks like the Hero9 will be great. I am counting on GoPro to continue the firmware/software updates to this unit,

Very helpful review. The bugs that the 9 has made me decide to get the 8. Getting the footage is a priority, I don't want to risk losing recordings because of a crashing GoPro. The 10 will hopefully be running without a buggy operation.

Great video! I think I'm going to get one of these to film for youtube and I would like to use it for streaming as well. I've read that they work well for streaming as well. I really like that metal cage and I wish that I didn't need to get a media mod for mics.

I was looking for a vlogging camera and I'm pretty much sold on a gopro now especially since you can use the Hero 8 and 9 as a webcam without a capture card. Thanks so much for all the videos you made on the cameras it's definitely a tough choice deciding if I want to get the 8 or the 9. Even after your review I can't decide!
