🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:

*How much yarn will I need?* This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!

*How many squares do I need for a blanket?* That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀

*How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's?* Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.

I am 84 years old and, thanks to this very clear tutorial, I have just managed to crochet my first granny square. Never too old to learn something new.

I just made my first granny square! Full disclosure, granny looks like she stopped at the pub for a few quick drinks, BUT it is a square. And its overall resemblance to yours is enough that they would recognize each other as cousins, albeit distant cousins. 😅 Thanks, Robin. This was so clearly demonstrated that I can come back for a refresher and be on my granny way!

Hi Robin I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a young girl, I'm now 64. For some reason I have always struggled to master the Granny Square even though I have knitted lace stitches no problem. I recently decided to master Granny squares as I have loads of beautiful wool which would be perfect for crochet blankets. I had to go on medication 4 years ago and lost all my creativity as a result. I've really struggled to get back knitting without much success. I thought crochet might be easier so I searched UTube which came up with a number of tutorials. I would really like to compliment you on your tutorial. The instructions were so clear and structured. I'm now very happily crocheting a big granny square blanket. You have made my day. Thank you 😊.

I can't believe how easy you've made this for me to understand. I've had so many people teach me how to crochet the granny square and finally you did it. Thank you so much!

I’m 10, and this is my first ever granny square. I’ve been crocheting for about half a year now and didn’t know how to do a granny square. Thank you so much Robin!

I’m a beginner and have watched quite a few granny square tutorials. Yours are the most helpful and easiest to see what’s going on. Thank you!!! I’ve actually made my first three squares!!!

My dear, sweet mama passed in October. She was my best friend and I miss her so much. I found an Afghan that she had made. It is in pretty good shape except for two squares. I was lucky enough to find some yarn at Wal-Mart this morning that matches. But, I don ‘t know how to crochet so I will need to learn. I do know how to knit so I know that I can do this. I am looking forward to this on a cold winter day in Illinois. Thank you so much for this video. You have given a grieving daughter a short break from the pain that I am feeling and a closer connection to my mom.

I just love how you go slow and take your time explaining every part of it all! Thank you so very much for that it's really hard to find other crocheters that are willing to take or make it slower for people like me, I have a learning disability so it takes me just a little longer to get a better understanding of some things then what others do. And as for reading the patterns nope can't do it. Thank you so VERY much!

My friend learnt from you and told me to watch this after weeks of me not being able to do it, and I've just done my first granny square after watching this! Thank you so much. I wanted to make a blanket for my Nan who isn't very well, she will be pleased 🥰

Hello there, Robyn. I just wanted to say thank you for your delightful tutorials. I am an avid knitter, and all my life I have wanted to crochet.I am now79 and disabled but, I have completed one of your scarves, and I am so proud.
I am now going to attempt to cover the front of a cushion with a giant granny square. Wish me luck.
Your voice is very soothing and easy to follow, and your hook slides like silk through the yarn.
God bless Robyn, and please keep tutoring us.

I’ve watched this tutorial about 10 + times. I’ve watched it while eating, while doing other projects, taking bubble baths, pretty much anything you could imagine . I’ve tried to do this so many times but every time I get twisted on the corners. I’ve finally achieved a perfect granny square and I couldn’t be happier. Your tutorials taught me how to crochet and are teaching me so many new skills. Thank you so much Mrs. Robin!

I'm sure if you teach quantum physics, many of us including me will learn it in first go.

Why did I found you so late?!!! Thank you so much for this great tutorial!!!
