Sleepy Stomp got buffed because of the change to the Sleep status on enemies. They can't get woken up by your attacks, so they're basically just immobilized.

I think the implication of pokeys being called "ghouls" is that in paper mario they're supposed to be zombies, since they can throw their own body parts at you and drag fellow pokeys out from the ground.

Maybe the system text is Mario speaking, breaking the fourth wall? That explains how his partners can hear his emails.

Sleepy stomp is actually awesome now, as enemies will *never* wake up from sleep due to mario or his partners' attacks. Stage hazards and such can still wake them up, but other than that, you can just remove an enemy for 5ish turns. Mario and co can still be waken up from enemy attacks tho.

Either way, I don't think it's the *best* badge in the game when stuff like Mega Rush P and Power Bounce exist, but it's certainly up there!

Also they BUFFED Sleepy Stomp, which is insane because it was already good! (Well, they didn't buff the badge, they buffed the sleep status lol, they adjusted the wake up rates of attacks and most of your attacks don't wake up enemies at all)

I find it funny that this Game‘s German version calls Pine T Sr. T. Rottel, a Pun on the Word Trottel aka Idiot (Yes really) while Pine T Jr. is called T. Dibär which is a Pun on Teddibär aka Teddybear (prolly couldve guessed it yourself).

... Seeing your Twilight Princess playthrough, something about the design of this pit gives me deja-vu. Repeating chambers, different arrangements of enemies... Similar to the pit in Wind Waker, as well. Makes me wonder how the idea got tossed around back in the original Gamecube days - it's not the worst way to set up a non-boss themed gauntlet, so I guess it just stuck around as a way to do those things for a while. Though I can't decide if SPM's "Game-&-Watch" themed set of platforms was an improvement on the idea or not...

It is nice that there's pit-specific music, though! The brass and slight key change make this feel nice and triumphant, while also still retaining a bit of dramatic flair. This is the big push! But the baddies are only going to get worse (... usually) with every step forward! It also reminds me of the Chapter 1 mix for Hooktail Castle, which maybe isn't a complete coincidence...

1:23 As others mentioned it costs 4BP in 64 and I agree with them that it still has some uses, but you're absolutely right about everything else.
5:27 My guess is that the actual reason is to give players a reward even for subsequent runs.
7:43 Have no idea why they decided to call it a "ghoul" in English, the Japanese tattle only says that they're full of spines so they look like they'd hurt etc.
10:40 Not sure it would work particularly well even on those despite their high default rate considering Mario's level is part of the Gale Force calculation - if your level is higher than the enemy the success rate increases, but if it's lower it decreases (by 1% for each level).

I wonder if they changed the tattle for dark lakitus and sky blue spinys or kept it the same
