How to Solder / Splice Wires //// Info about Old Western Union Telegraph Wire Splice

also note that when soldering you should where safety glasses as solder can splatter, and be very careful as the soldering gun/iron, solder, wires and or components get very hot and can cause burns. This is a video on how to solder, i try my best to explain the basics of soldering and how to do a old technique that is not used much anymore, but it is probably the best splice that can be made, it is strong, virtually impossible to pull apart and it is a great electrical connection, it's not used anymore but it is still a recognized splicing method by the NEC (National Electric Code) it was primarily used to repair telegraph wires, which is how it gots it's name. Just remember when soldering, melt your solder on the wire, not your tip, except when cleaning and checking soldering gun/iron temperature. It is best to tin wires, especially stranded wires, it makes it easier/quicker.

i have never seen the wire splice done that way. The basic idea is correct but the direction of the second twisted wire is in the incorrect direction.
So that when you look at it should be so that the twisted portion will look like a continuation from one end then on to the other end not as shown here as \\\\ the latter will have an easier time of unwravelling.

You may have gone to fast with these splices, they are the most ugliest splices I've ever seen.
