Wow Heath another great tutorial helping fellow fishing junkies with a detailed explanation of how to slow pitch jig. Thanks for taking the time and giving us your views on the how and why based on your experience. Great job. I'm one of those with the spinner set up just getting my feet wet into jigging. I'm definitely gonna give your tips a try. 🎣🎣

Thanks for the great video, I have been watching tons of videos on slow jigging (and with youtube auto translation many Japanese videos). Took me months to figure out my set-up, and your tutorial was the icing on the cake. It completed my main line selection (PE ) and leader with a slightly different knot (FG knot) and use of swivel, the intro of jigs was an eye opener. Just got my Abu Garcia Salty water reel (can use for slow and high speed) and waiting for my Shimano gruppler Slow Jig rod....can not wait. Friend and I are trying to promote slow jigging in Taiwan (sick and tired of bottom

Hi Heath, another great "How to" video. You went into the fine details and really made a comprehensive video. I just watched a John Skinner video, where he was basically slow pitching for Blue Fish and Striped Bass on Long Island. He was doing exactly what you described but was using a one oz. white bucktail jig with a trailer. He was NOT jigging the way we usually do. (I guess you would call it vertical jigging.) He did a slow pitch and then let it flutter down to the bottom. It looked like the "North East" version of "Slow Pitching." Thanks for another great video. Hope everyone is well, Mickey

Best way I've heard slow jigging described is making a vertical jig swim horizontally. When i first start, I put the jig in the water about 6 to 8 feet where I can still see it so I can see the action im creating on the jig. Each shape and weight will have different action. Under perfect conditions I can swim the jig horizontally for about 4 to 5 seconds before coming tight. Caught Yellowtail here on the West coast slow jigging when the bite was tough.

Wow, I started jigging last year as we are learning and you are right. I struggled with the rod and I used a spinner. Had some success but seemed like to much work. I learned a lot with your video and I am interested in getting a rod and reel. What reel would you recommend for slow pitch jigging in south fla in aprrox 100 to 350 ft of water ? Thanks again,

Awesome video and another addiction lol. 1 question, instead of the ring at the end could you use a ta clip or would that mess up the action of jig. Thanks again.

Another great video! I’ve been vertical (butterfly) jigging for over 10 years but am going to be practicing these slow pitch techniques this year.
Would you say that the main difference between a vertical (butterfly) style jig and a slow pitch style jig is that the vertical jigs are symmetrical (same shape on both sides) and the slow pitch jigs are asymmetrical (one side is shaped differently from the other)?

thank you for the very informative video. love how detailed it was and not necessarily just selling a gear. really appreciate how you are showing ways to go about slow pitch jigging without breaking the bank. do you have the name or brand of that medium jig you showed in silver strips? thanks again
