Bad part about cutting the ball like that is a lot of those balls stay 6 ft high for a long time and end up being caught. Good part is if you miss high on the ball you hit a hard grounder and if you miss low on the ball it ends up a home run. Love watching the major guys hit on the stadium fields with the outfielders back and the infielders back. They roll over the top of the ball with a lot of top hand and put it just over the infielders head and just in front of the outfielders.

Cutting a ball wasn’t a thing back when I played back in the 80s. I don’t see an advantage. Just get arms extended, snap wrists and hit the ball in front of you. And do it 50 swings a day every day.
