How about taking some chords up a minor 3rd (for example C A E flat Major 4, , D Major 5)

In rock and roll, we talk about the most common chord progression of a song, no matter what key it is in as "C, Am, F G7" for 1, 6, 4, 5. That has been in very common use for 60+ years
