From what I've gathered from other interviews is that she must be 11 years old here. Just unbelievable how good she is.
The scene where she is begging Leon to open the door while the police are searching for her is the most amazing.

One sticking point was that her parents, understandably, didn't want her to smoke cigarettes for the role. The ones she smoked in the movie were fake.

She nails this part so well in a cold read at a casting session. The casting director and director must have been besides themselves at having found her.
