What’s happening in this “The Professional” movie clip?
When Mathilda returns with the groceries she was sent to buy and notices the carnage, she calmly continues down the hallway past the open door of her family's apartment, and receives sanctuary from a reluctant Léon. One of the agents looks at Mathilda, quizzingly, as she has to insistently ring the bell on and on before Léon lets her in. Stansfield realises that there's a little girl missing because of a family photograph he's found.

What’s the “The Professional” movie about?
Mathilda (Natalie Portman from Black Swan and Annihilation), a twelve-year old New York girl, is living an undesirable life among her half-family. Her father stores drugs for two-faced cop Norman Stansfield (Gary Oldman from Harry Potter and The Dark Knight). Only her little brother keeps Mathilda from breaking apart. One day, Stansfield and his team take cruel revenge on her father for stretching the drugs a little, thus killing the whole family. Only Mathilda, who was out shopping, survives by finding shelter in Léon's (Jean Reno from Godzilla and The Big Blue) apartment in the moment of highest need. Soon, she finds out about the strange neighbour's unusual profession - killing - and desperately seeks his help in taking revenge for her little brother. Léon, who is completely inexperienced in fatherly tasks, and in friendships, does his best to keep Mathilda out of trouble - unsuccessfully. Now, the conflict between a killer, who slowly discovers his abilities to live, to feel, to love and a corrupt police officer, who does anything in his might to get rid of an eye witness, arises to unmeasurable proportions - all for the sake of a little twelve-year old girl, who has nearly nothing to lose.

Fun fact, they interviewed a real hitman once and asked what's the most accurate depiction of a hitman in a movie. He said, Leon in the professional. Movies always show these fancy well dressed hitmen in suits driving exotic supercars. Most of the time it's just a regular guy living alone barely making ends meet.

Brilliant film, superb performances by young Natalie, Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and let's not forget the excellent Danny Aiello as Tony, Leon's handler. Best film ever made in my book, by the masterful Luc Besson.

I love how much this scene and the cab scene In the fifth element parallel so much with both Mathilda and Leeloo begging for help and even the music in both scenes are alike. The director did both films with lots of other parallel scenes, like when Leeloo and Mathilda are both told that they are gonna get away with their guy, just the two of them when both films are hitting their climax. Love it.

Rewatched the movie and can't get over the infanticide. Feel bad can't enjoy it for villain being too evil.

leon signed his death when he let that girl in. But in a way, the little girl restored something inside his soul before his death. Poetic

That cop in the hallway's probably one of the luckiest dudes ever. His instincts told him that whatever's behind that door was none of his dam business...LoL.

The cinematography in this film. The ray of light shines on her face, as if she is saved and allowed to enter heaven.

Besson is a master where it come to the camera angle, the light coming on her face and her facial expression when he open the door is a magnificent usage of the perfect angle.

Natlaie's performance at 13 years of age in Leon is better than her Oscar winning performance in Black Swan. This is the best performance by a child actor.
