Men in missing sub know how to stretch life support, explorer says | NBC New York

The rescue mission for the missing Titanic tourist sub is believed to be in its final hours. Despite reports of noise in the water, there has been no sign of the vessel with five men on board. News 4's Ida Siegal reports.

The fact that people would pay $250k to go into a sub that is *controlled with a video game controller* _and_ is *not certified* by any official agency is beyond me. Regardless, I’m horrified for these men and hope they’re found alive and okay!

This is so scary! The idea of being locked and bolted in from the outside gives me chills! They are literally at someone else's mercy! They can barely stretch! They have been in a sitting position for days! Even if they were to somehow get to surface, they are bolted in with no way out! Hopefully a miracle happens!

Basically they are in manual breathing mode. Imagine breathing once every 30 seconds for an entire day.

So, the company had no backup plan for such an event? There is no real system for the sub to be raised in a timely fashion if it fails? Wow, just a straight-up gamble.

I also have hope for these men, even in my mind the chances a super slim. It would be nothing short of a miracle if they are found ! And found alive !

Sometimes I feel like why do something so silly just because you can. But then I realize it’s our sense of adventure that makes life exciting. Also we do make mistakes we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t. Prayers sent for these men. Only God can save you by leading the search team to you…

I wish the media would stop giving people false hope with reports like this. Tragic as it is for the people in the Titan and their families, the fact is the submersible has not been located yet, and it will take days to carry out any operation to bring it to the surface. It will not be possible to stretch their available oxygen for the many days needed for rescue.
