If it imploded, which it sounds like it did, that would've just been "lights out." No suffering at that depth and pressure, just GONE. It's sad, but it's not as horrible as sitting on the bottom of the ocean for days under more than two miles of water, waiting for your air to get stale.

I feel terrible for the woman who lost her husband and son on Father's Day

Sorry but don't play with a burial ground.. The company should repay the search and rescue costs.

Thankfully, they would have died instantly. My heart breaks for the families. Ocean Gate knew this vessel wasn't properly checked by experts. They were sued in 2018 for firing an expert who told them that the first submersible wasn't safe. He won his case and considerable amount of money.
The Titan probably imploded on its descent, when communications stopped

The titanic sunk more than 111 years ago and today it took five more victims of its tragic story.

Viewport (window) was rated for 1300 meters. The Titanic sits at 4000.

I am not a sub expert but when I first heard about it missing, my first thought was implosion. I wish it was incorrect.

I don't know if it's just me but I think that company is going to be going out of business very soon

I'm glad they found traces of it, so that the family can have closure. I was thinking it got swallowed up by some gigantic sea creature. Hopefully people let that area rest from here on. Too many people were lost in a horrible way. Especially the poor who were locked below deck. That area carries the weight of some seriously painful energy.

So sad to hear let's just hope they went quickly and without suffering. I just feel bad for those loved ones who will never forget or get over what happened. It needs to be said that doing this type of exploration while important it should be much more then one submersible that is built for this without being tested thoroughly and diving alone without the means of emergency communication backups.

Money doesn’t exactly mean these individuals are intelligent. I would never trust anyone diving that deep

This is a shame. I had hoped they would find them alive

The amount of times the family is going to hear, "At least they didn't suffer. "

Sad yes. We are not legally allowed to operate a motorcycle without proper training and all safety devices in working condition. Why was such a small, unproperly maintained underwater vessel allowed to go into depths deeper that it was rated for. Someone needs to be held accountable for this tragedy.

So, who is going to pay for the massive rescue operation?

We don't know whether the failure was sudden and unexpected, or whether they lost control of the submersible and it imploded when it reached a critical depth.
