I mentioned this on another video but I'll mention it here too. They have something calculated for 4000m. The Titanic is 3, 800m deep. I think ISO (or NCEES or one of those) requires a 150% minimum buffer for engineered loads (meaning for diving 3, 800m the sub would have to be engineered for 5, 700m to be "save"). They're literally running at 95% at the Titanic. . . At that depth even temperature changes could have changed the water density enough to surpass the haul strength and crush the sub.

I saw a video of this submersible made about 10 months ago. There is absolutely no way I would climb in that little tin can and sink to 12, 000 feet.

Its time to let the Titanic rest in peace. The wreckage is literally a massive graveyard, let the souls rest in peace. There is a reason we cannot recover the massive Titanic, maybe its not meant to be recovered or to be visited like a tourist site.

Similar vessels have had a backup submersible to effect a rescue if the primary sub is incapacitated. This mission lacked that foresight.

As many have said in various comment threads, the docus and pictures etc are so great I don’t see the prize for the risk they took. It’s dark down there and you need big lights to see properly, and it’s broken up and overgrown. Above surface you see the hulking thing in its entirety. If I was the mum of the teenager I’d never forgive my husband. He wouldn’t have taken my son down in the first place.
