All cameras, the GoPro Hero 10, the Hero 9 and the Hero 8 do an excellent job stabilizing the footage. The GoPro Hero 9 and 10 do a little bit a better job when it comes to horizon levelling but all in all Hypersmooth 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 is amazing.
However, not everything abou the GoPro Hero 10 is amazing, there are also some bad things which I will show you in this GoPro Hero 10 comparison.
When it comes to TimeWarp there is no huge quality differences between the GoPro Hero 10, the Hero 9 and the Hero 8. The only bigger difference is, that the Hero 9 records with the exact same settings (4K 30x) the shortest TimeWarps and the Hero 8 the longest ones.
The audio of the GoPro Hero 10 and the GoPro Hero 9 is very similar, I did not hear any differences. The Hero 8 is a little bit worse, as already addressed in the GoPro Hero 8 comparison with the GoPro Hero 7.
One amazing feature of the GoPro Hero 10 is the water repellent lens. In my comparison with the GoPro Hero 9 you can clearly see how well the new coating on the lens of the GoPro Hero 10 works.
When it comes to color profiles the GoPro Hero 10 has now 3. Flat, Natural and Vibrant. Vibrant equals the GoPro color profile on the GoPro Hero 9 and older.
Regarding the image quality, the GoPro Hero 10 and 9 are basically identical when it comes to 4K 30FPS. Of course the image is better for slow motion shots with 120 or 240 FPS, but more to that later in this GoPro Hero 10 comparison.
The battery life however is extremely bad on the GoPro Hero 10. It is that bad, that I believe they will fix it in a software update as it consumes around 3 times more battery than the GoPro Hero 9, recording the same things.
Another bummer on the GoPro Hero 10 is the automatic white balance. All videos and photos have a yellowish tone which has to be fixed in post or by adjusting manually the white balance setting.
