🦒🤩🤸!!! "Short, quick and clean" is a great definition, it is!!! Having the moment right was one of the things no one talked about when I started and would have been crucial 😆being so important no matter the medium. So, another great referance vídeo !!! Wish you and yours a great friday, another day towards spring 😅🤩♥️❤️

You make it look so easy. Makes me want to give it a go to try it. I’m going to look for pots the next time I go out 😃

Well Nina, I was just sorting and measuring to see what pot would fit where and how etc to go ahead and transition a couple of plants to S/H and leca. One of my phals has nice new roots coming so it is candidate #1, the other will be an Oncidium, haven’t decided which one yet. I spent so much time sorting the leca and of the 1kg I bought to start with only had a small amount of large and the rest is small & medium size. That’s going to be ok because I think the phal can have medium while Oncidium will be good in small. Leca has been boiled, rinsed etc and I’m ready to rock & roll. This is going to be rather exciting for me and your video is very timely. PS. Just ordered two Tolumnias (they call them FS which is “flowering size”) I can’t get used to calling it “blooming” as we’ve always referred to it as flowering and looking forward to seeing my first real life Tolumnia flowers, yay! Also ordered Onc. Heaven Scent ‘Redolence’ in NFS so you can guess at how big that will be. It may be another candidate for S/H & leca, I’ll see how it looks when it arrives. Thank you for the video, I think I’ll watch it again just to get it all to sink in.

🤗🤗Hi Nina! Sawa rafiki? Great tutorial on transitioning, you made that look so easy! 😂. I am slowly getting convinced that inorganic is the forward for me….but I am from the 🐢 ( green tortoises?) Kobe family, It takes time for me get there.🤣. Have a fantastic day 🦒, squashed banana!🌼🌸💕

Good morning again! The transitioning, I always struggle with that. Since bark works so badly for my environment (it always catches mold like super fast since most of my growing happens in inorganics, I guess they just don't have anything else to munch on), it's so hard to wait, cause it can mean I'll compromise the orchid even more. Oh well, hence why I buy orchids only at certain times of the year! Although if jars keep up what they're doing till now, I'll buy more orchids... at different times... I can already hear my bf rejoicing as I expand the jungle... ehm... or not :D Oh I love the sight of the roots on that leptotes, they're so sweet! And I agree the size of the roots should define the particle size... combined with water retention requirements. Also as you talk about roots clinging to bark, funnily enough in a bit of time, they detach themselves from it as they grow in the inorganics. At least that's my experience with them. Also I can't stress enough how well this leptotes looks, the leaves are so healthy, so sweet... the other one you have really looks stunted for some reason. This one with the long leaves remind me of the green beans I use for cooking, the immature pods that have barely formed the bean seeds. This looks just like it! Not that I'm suggesting you eat the leptotes beans or anything :D But it also looks so bushy. This is the look I like on Brassavolas and why I got interested in Leptotes. Cause it looks like a tiny Brassavola. I need to get myself the unicolor, I have to try. If it will have darker pink blooms, I will deal with it, hoping for more pale variety, but still. I need this growth habit in my life. Thank you again for the informative video, it does sound very simple and in the end it IS very simple, but it's daunting nonetheless. Have a wonderful day! :)

Thank you for this video Nina! I think I have enough courage mustered up now to try S/H. Now to sort the big bag of leca! Take good care, Ruth

Hope this one grows well for you.
Please add me to the carecollab series of Leptotes, I have a few species, including bicolor.

When that came out of the pot, that looked so familiar because that was how mine looked when I tried keeping it potted. Then I put it on a mount and it took a couple of years to recover. So if it doesn't bloom, or the next growths are a bit stunted, don't be surprised (not that you would be, but you know). But I think it should grow on well otherwise, I just find they grow and look better mounted because the leaves would rather arch than stand upright when it is mature.
And I've been a bit busy during the day the past couple days so I feel guilty not having replied back on other comments. So, let me just say I'm a bit bummed that Princess Odette is not doing well. I have my fingers crossed that she will pull through but when it comes to stem rot I don't hold out much hope (I mean, I just threw my schilleriana out rather than wait and hope for a keiki). And I cannot believe filtergate still goes on. I certainly hope that Alex's friend gets it together and fixes it for you before you run out of water because then what? Go out and buy bottles of distilled water? That would get expensive fast. I'm guessing calling an actual plumber is out of the question because they charge an arm and a leg.

I am in LA, & would like to do this for some of my orchids. I keep them in my garden year round. Does this encourage mosquitoes to populate in the wet pot? We have a problem with mosquitoes here in the spring & summer.
Another question, does the leca get too cold in winter?
