The oyakodon is one of the easiest Japanese rice bowls, but I'll show you hacks to make it extra delicious!

Ingredients:
1 chicken thigh, flour, oil
1 egg
1/2 sliced onions
2 tbsp sake
1 3/4 tbsp mirin
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
5 sugar

1. Warm up an egg at 120 degrees (F) for 3 minutes, crack it open & mix partially (leave some of the whites).
2. Cut up a chicken thigh into bite-sized pieces, cover with flour.
3. Coat pan with oil, lightly sear both sides, take it out. Wipe off burnt flour from pan.
4. Coat pan with oil, add sliced onions, sauté until lightly charred.
5. Add sake, mirin, soy sauce, sugar. Mix, bring to slight boil.
6. Turn heat off, add the chicken, entangle everything, move to smaller pan.
7. Add water into old pan & mix the remaining sauce, pour into new pan.
8. Bring to slight boil until gooey, pour the egg mixture, move it around.
9. Slightly lower heat, put on lid & cook until desired doneness. Best if gooey in the middle. Put ontop of bowl of rice, enjoy!

Searing the chicken with some flour definitely made my oyakodon better! Thanks for the tip!

I tried this and it’s legit. I recommend adding a bit of dashi powder and serving it with shichimi togarashi and fukujinsuke to make it next level 👍🏻

Great hacks, I’m gonna try coating the chicken and do my onions like that tonight but I also prefer some more soup so I’ll make with dashi as well 😋

How on earth does she get water at 120°? If it's Celsius, it's impossible (water doesn't go above 100°C in normal circumstances). If it's Fahrenheit, it shouldn't be simmering as in the vid. That's probably at least 200°F/95°C.
