Notification squad. I learned ESXI in college and slowly moved over to xen, proxmox, and other alternatives.

Thank you sir, this helped me install esxi 6.5 on a dell T710, it doesn’t however work with esxi 6.7.

Thanks for the help.

for any recurring needs to fix the ISO to allow unsupported hardware in the boot.cfg file. located at 2 destinations /bootbank/boot.cfg and /altbootbank/boot.cfg.
With "kernelopt" you can append the same option. Nice video

Hi Joe, Love the video. Did VMWare ever get back to you whether could still run 6.5/6.7 when renewing VMUG Advance membership? Just bought a Dell T620 for home lab and love it as it is so quite and seemingly efficient, is actually in my bedroom, lol.

Thanks, I'm going to try this out on VMware ESXi 8.0.1 tomorrow, on older double Intel Xeon processors.

Good job getting it working. It is a shame when you have older equipment and it can't run anything current. VMware is pretty good at providing workarounds. Love the BSG references!

Aloha UnkyJoe, I see you did this a few months ago. Have you seen any issues in the short time you've been running on this unsupported config?

Hi UnckyJoe,
I just installed esxi 7.0 u3 on my ibm x3550 m3 using your guide. The installation was successful, but when I went to the storage menu no disk was detected in the devices tab. while on the adapter menu there is a list of adapters, one of which is the ICH10 4 port SATA IDE Controller model. do you have any suggestions for this problem.?

Hi Joe, I'm using ESXI to virtualize some machines inside the server and recently I'm having some problems with the Dell PERC H345 Front card, it's not starting when I turn on the server, I'm having to run it manually when I access ESXI, you know how do i solve this?
