I don't know who needs to hear this but speed cameras have 5lbs of copper in them.

i don't think surrey rcmp in BC would fail to file something like that in the allocated time.

they've shown up to 3 of my speeding court dates, but i did get 2 of them tossed out in court after.

Six months ago, i got Toronto court charge for a ticket dated April 1997. They wanted proof I'd payed the ticket 26 years go.

No court option, no original ticket, only a database record when they transferred tickets to a new system. no other choice but pay it again. Honestly i can't remember not paying any tickets. Dont we have to clear all tickets every 5 years when renewal of license?

I got a cell phone ticket one time when I wasn't using my phone. (was picking something out of my teeth and the cop saw my hand near my face and decided I must be using a phone)
Showed up at court to dispute it and a different cop offered me a 50% discount on the fine to drop the dispute which I turned down. (still would have gotten points on my license and it still would have been a $200 fine for something I didn't do) Cop that wrote the ticket didn't show up and the judge dismissed it.
Always contest tickets. Even if you lose it costs them more money to take money away from you.

This is quite common! Use it to your advantage people. Cops frequently forget to file the ticket.

not that you should speed but like absolutely contest every ticket and reschedule your court date if you can

If everyone fought their traffic tickets, courts would be so back logged, they would dismiss all tickets

Not just automated - take every ticket to court. It doesn't mean you'll ever have to set foot in the court, let alone pay the ticket. The entire justice system would be on its knees the moment everyone decides to challenge the charges and take full advantage of their rights, bit the vast majority settles before they see their day in court.

Probably only a one on 30 chance, but it's worth a shot. I heard one person managed to argue their way out in court by requesting the maintenance logs of the speedcam that caught him. Since he was adamant that he wasn't speeding, he made the validity of the evidence against him questionable when the maintenance logs were incomplete.

Yes, these fines have to be dealt with in a timely manner. These red light and speed cameras are catching so many people that they can’t keep up. I heard chatter of upwards of 450 tickets being thrown out a day!

Fight every one!!!

I just do the speed limit because it enrages every single person on the road, especially in Hamilton

I once got a red light ticket and ignored it for weeks. I got a notice that it had beef dropped due to no court availability. I wouldn’t recommend my strategy

Or you gotta go out of your way and meet them in court. Lmao. No thanks. Fight it online. You'll at the very least get it split in half.

Yeah, if you have the time, fight the damn tickets, it wont cost you shit and the worst that happens in you pay the ticket you were gonna pay anyways

Wow, on one end you advocate for safer neighbourhoods and on the other you say this. Tell me how this isn't hypocrisy.
