I graduated from law school with over $200,000 in student loans. I finished paying off the student loans in under 2 years, but only through following the 4 steps I outline in this video. If I hadn’t followed these 4 steps, I’m pretty sure I would still be making the minimum payments on my student loans. I know that student loans are something that many people have to face, which is why I wanted to share the ways that helped me to pay off the loans faster. These 4 steps are truly applicable to everyone, regardless of your income level, so I hope you find these helpful. If you have student loans or debt of any kind, know that I’m rooting for you! I’ll have more videos on student loan specific topics in the future, so be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell!

I ran my credit card up to 5k and my limit was 6k lol. I decided that 2020 would be the year I pay it off. I’ve actually paid more than half of it within the first 3 months of this year which raised my credit score from a 680 to 730. I’m so happy. I hope we get another stimulus check because it’s going directly to my credit card.

Great tips but you forgot to mention you made $220k/yr+ to payoff those loans. High income is the number one factor to be able to pay it off quickly.

My degree and cost of living while in school was $92, 000 and I managed to pay it all and walk away from my graduation with zero debt. Lots of hustle and discipline in those 5 years 💪

I have $150k to pay off making $80K. I’m hoping to pay off within 3 yrs. I live in the dc area and I’m looking to downsize to a cheaper apartment. Cost of living is high. I also plan to apply to Jobs to move into the six figure range.

Funny how all the schools never really teach us about the danger of student loans! Lol

Girl, I’m in a similar boat and I’m not even a lawyer! 😩 I’ve paid a total of one off in full. Private loans are predators and they prey on your financial illiteracy. There’s hope! I’m looking to transition into tech to increase my income. Last debt to pay off!

225, 526 dollars in debt for "law school" and they didn't teach you what a grace period or forbearance meant? I would ask for a refund

Lifestyle inflation, the same thing here! Not living below your means just postponing lifestyle inflation for a certain period of time. As always great content!

Hi - While we have different levels of debt and income, I still found your tips extremely helpful. Remembering to control your spending is something everyone should be mindful of when they recently graduate

You really crushed those loans Erika! Something Ramit Sethi always says is to figure out your debt payoff date. It helps avoid the mental belief that debt will loom over you for all eternity

Erika I love how you lived below your means... that is sooo important to get out of debt & save money! Great job 👍

Great video! Completely guilty of lifestyle inflation (which is a term I’ve never heard until this video). I graduated art school with $150k of student loans. Now I’m currently selling off those nice things I bought while experiencing lifestyle inflation. Totally agree that’s it’s MUCH more difficult to come back down.

Thanks for the good tips here. Currently tackling credit cards then onto student loans. Look forward to more helpful info!
