In this video I discuss a very common subject brought up by subscribers: SLEEP. I discuss variables few address when it comes to getting a good night's sleep. Although there probably is an optimal sleeping position, you might have to ask yourself if you're even capable of getting into that position without hurting yourself. This is a fairly complicated subject, but this video will shed light on where you should take your efforts if you want to get better sleep at night.

While I can see why people might view this video as a cop-out, I do agree that a person's emotional state affects their sleeping position. I always go to sleep on my back but then wake up hugging my pillow with my legs bent and pressed up. So basically I should do some late-night yoga, meditation, or journal writing to clear my head before going to sleep.

You explain things in an easy to understand way that I haven't found with other people. Thank you Naudi.

Bought your posture book for my coffee table. Everyday reminder and for friends who stop over to get interested. Thanks for the vids as always!

What a coincidence... I asked my Rolfer what his thoughts were on this subject just last week and the resulting conversation basically boiled down to just do what's comfortable. My posture has improved significantly since I discovered FP and starting to have body work done and I am now starting to feel the effects in the quality of my sleep.

On a related note, I was inspired by your recent FB post on floating to do a poor man's float experience in my tub. Best night of sleep I have had in years. I can't wait to try the real thing. Thanks for doing what you do Naudi.

Great Video, you can read 40 hours of books on human behavior or watch this video a few times and get the same understanding to help you sleep better. thank you for sharing the knowledge.

Million thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Will definitely buy your book when I heal from surgery, even though I'm a poor college student.
You've more than convinced me that it's going to be an exeptional investment.

Great video Naudi with awesome content. I was wondering what you have been studying, like Physical Therapy maybe? This is the first channel ever that I'm gonna subscribe. Thanks for the awesome work man.

for people who can't find a comfortable position in bed, give hammocks a try. for me it almost eliminates the need to roll around to relieve pressure points.

Tried foam rolling before bed. Like right before, versus dinner time, and at least last night I slept better than normal. Will repeat to see if it was the difference

Also finding the right firmness for your pillow and mattress that suits how you like to sleep. A softer pillow that sinks in more can help with neck stiffness because the average pillow seams to elavate your head too much when sleeping on your side and especially when sleeping on your back. Best position? Laying down lol. I agree it's more about shutting your mind down and just relaxing your body.

Excellent video! I'm really glad you mentioned the nervous system and cortisol. I have adrenal fatigue, but I still love to work out. I cut out the cadrio portion, and added just a few rounds of tabata. However, I'd really like it if you could give me some workout/weights I could do to keep my body strong while not taxing my adrenals. I'd love to talk to you about it.

Cons of front sleeping-
1) assymetrical upper spine
2) constricted chest cavity

Solutions
1) alternating sides. 5 mins facing left 5 mins facing right etc
2) limb flexion to maintain space for chest cavity (planking)

you are right that a dysfunctional body is not going to be able to plank all night and will likely crush their organs. but in an ideal we have 2 viable front poses and 1 viable back pose. this way rather than holding one pose we can perform a sequence of movements or "functional patterns" ;)
