Saw the movie last night and was shocked at how the movie industry basically committed slavery on young actors and actresses. They seem to have no regard for the people that made them millions of dollars.
That said, Renee did an outstanding job of bringing to light the magnificent Judy Garland.

Judy Garland was so beautiful when she was young. I was astonished when I saw the first clips of "Judy" thinking how great the actress was, and then realized that it was Renee Zellweger! She really paid attention to detail yet it does not come off as an impersonation. Also amazed by her singing.

I saw the movie. Afterward I saw the featurette on the DVD "From the Heart: the Making of Judy." In some ways that 4-minute film with actors' and crew's comments moved me even more. I think it made me realize how much people loved Judy Garland even more so after her death. They saw how she gave her heart to her audiences.

Judy Garland was not only a great talent, she was a genius. Co-workers were amazed at how she could look at a script once, or watch a dance routine once, and know it and be able to perform it. Her interpretation of songs and the flow of the lyrics and emotions behind them were beyond amazing. She was I believe the greatest talent of that century.

Was the movie supposed to be a tribute? A reprisal of her musical talent? For what I have gathered, the director's intent was to show her humanity, her struggle, her personal drama. Her talent, her voice were not part of his equation. Therefore, Renee got the part for her ability to show the person behind the talent. Obviously, those expecting a replica of Judy will be disappointed. But I can't wait to see Renee show us the woman behind the talent. I am certain she (Renee) will not disappoint.
