How to Fix Sony Vegas 'Could not access network location' error

Problem:
If you already have a version of Sony Vegas installed on your PC, and want to install a newer version, you might get an error message that says "Could not access network location". This is not necessarily related to a network, but to Windows Registry entries.

Solution:
- go to the Start menu and type REGEDIT
- right click REGEDIT and click "Run as administrator"
- in Regedit go to Edit, Find
- Search for "Sony Creative Software"
- delete the entries that you might find
- installation of Sony Vegas should now work fine
