What do flat earthers think about GPS? #flatearth

Do flat earthers believe in latitude and longitude and if so how do they calculate distances around the earth consider that the formula uses the radius of the earth?

They dont think about it at all. They intrinsically know they will never understand how it works, so they ignore it.

Thats why they spend so much effort on celestial navigation - they think they can understand measuring an angle with a sextant, but even then they get it wrong.

I know a flat earther, he didn't consider GPS at all before I asked him about it. He agrees it exists and works, but I've had to explain the details to him. Now I've sent links with proper details and waiting on his reply 🙃

Knowing the times and frequency of radio wave you can calculate the distance between the transmitter and receiver. Having 3 different distances you know the exact location.
The GPS - as I suppose flat earthers believe - uses also or mainly the waves that go not directly between the transmitter and receiver but that are reflected of the dome (stratosphere). The system is of course far more complicated, like nowadays car engine comparing to 100 years ago.
In practical use and service it doesn't matter if satellites exists as we think. They can be just the points in which you point your antennas. Generally it doesn't matter if the earth is "flat" or a spinning ball.

There's no reason why a positioning system can't exist on a flat plane. The formula would be very similar (btw trigonometry still works on a flat plane. Again.. 9th grade geometry). I'm not saying the earth is flat or a globe, just pointing out this video is stupid.

It's a snow globe, obviously! North Pole in the center, and Antarctica surrounding the perimeter. There's your radius. If NASA wasn't patrolling Antarctica, ordinary people would be able to measure it. Plus, the map on your phone is flat. If that's not a smoking gun, I don't know what is. Boom!
