You cannot argue with them, they are not intelligent enough to be argued with. It's like having an argument with someone trying to explain the scientific principles of flight and they just keep insisting aeroplanes fly because of magic.

It’s main character syndrome. They think everything in the world is set up to lie to them cause the world revolves around them.

I had an epiphany about this… it’s a religion. It has all the hallmarks. It’s a belief that’s part of their identify. And they don’t need to rely on any conventional wisdom or evidence to believe it. They believe it because, deep down, they want to believe it. And to admit they might be wrong is to question the whole way they’ve brought meaning to their lives.

I've debated dozens of these people and I've NEVER heard a single one say "oh that's interesting, maybe I'll have to look more into that." They already made up their mind. When you refute one argument they just move onto the next one. Also it's no surprise that the vast majority of them are religious.

They don’t actually wanna know. They just want to believe. I want suggested for them to get together and one of them become a pilot and fly and take a picture of the edge or the ice wall or something.
