Miami Vice (1 of 2) - Steve the Bartender

It's simply a mash up of two classic cocktails, the Strawberry Daiquiri and the Pina Colada, poured separately yet in the same glass to create a colourful layered effect. The best part of this cocktail is you have multiple consumption options - drink the tart Strawberry Daiquiri, sip the creamy, coconut-y Pina Coalda or mix them together for a mish mash of two excellent frozen drinks!

INGREDIENTS

|| PINA COLADA
- 45ml Light Rum (1 ½ oz)
- 45ml Cream of Coconut (1 ½ oz)
- 45ml Pineapple Juice (1 ½ oz)
- 15ml Lime Juice ( ½ oz)

|| STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI
- 45ml Aged Rum (1 ½ oz)
- 22.5ml Lime Juice (¾ oz)
- 4 Strawberries

Music - Autumn in Prague - Matt Large

Love making these tbh. Working at a beach side hotel means we have loads of blenders at our disposal, and building them both in separate blenders. Hitting go, then pouring it one after the other is honestly so satisfying.

I will say, I make the daiquiri with strawberries and Monin strawberry syrup to get it runnier. Just pours better and still floats perfect

Ah. The bane of a bartender's existence. Ordering this in a restaurant is sure to get you told "No, try again."

If you use frozen strawberries you can reduce the ice and add even more strawberries and still get the frozen blend, but seriously jacked up on the strawberries.

Looks delicious! I’d be willing to forgo the presentation and blend it all up together, as that’s exactly what I’m going to do in the glass.

I made it back in May or June. It was good since in the US it was approaching summer. It wasn't my favorite but when combined the best of best worlds was certainly delicious

Ideally you'd have them side by side. Add the first half, tip it over and cover the top, and pour the second half in the gap. Still not easy but it does work.

@Steave the Bartender, just wondering about the name of the bar you said you would soon be getting behind soon in SA? I've got some family over there and would love to show them just how good you are. Cheers.

We used to drink those at the Pier Bar in Honolulu Hawaii and it was called a Lava Flow. That was in the mid 90's. We used to mix them up and to me they tasted like strawberry cheesecake.

Visually it would look better with the contrast so you can see the strawberry easier. Sounds great though!

Hello Steve, new subscriber here...What Whiskey do you prefer when making a Godfather, or does it matter much? Thanks so much and you've been a lifesaver to help me entertain!
