The one show that epitomizes the 80s, the music, fashion, it was definetly " Must See TV" back then, sadly that era has passed but thankful I was around to witness it.

Happy Birthday, Miami Vice. I still watch it because it brings back good memories of my childhood. It has been replicated but will never be duplicated.

I was born in 79. I always tell people, if you want to know and get a true feel for what the 80's was like, watch "Miami Vice". The music, the fashion, the lingo, the cars, the women, the men. Just everything about that show embodied that decade. When 89 came and it was finally going off of air, you KNEW it was the end of an era. Even in the series finale, to this DAY, if you watch it, you feel the 80's at its end....If you watched Miami Vice in its hey day, then you know the sense of nostalgia you get watching the show now. The show is in the Library of Congress now and rightfully so. It defined a decade.

He's not lying!! What a great show that keeps on giving 😄 that scene where they're quiet in the car driving at night and In the Air Tonight plays.... simply iconic! And of course Don Johnson is fantastically handsome still 😍😍

He's absolutely right.
Hill streets blues, Magnum PI, LA Law were all good but they still had this 70s feel to them...
Miami Vice was totally original and fresh: dialogs, scripts, shooting, design, music...
I would argue there's a "MTV/music video" influence in there.

This show was such a phenomenon. I remember where I was when seeing the first episode at 11 yrs old. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think those days would feel like ancient history from a bygone planet. I could’ve stayed 11 forever.

One of the best TV series, one of the best soundtracks ever: Miami Vice theme, Crockett's theme, Cry, In The Air Tonight, etc....I'd really like to go back to those

I will forever remember Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas standing in front of the black Ferrari poster that my older brother had. I loved the intro of that show!!!
