The idea of Christ preaching the good news in the realm of the dead gave me goosebumps.

Jesus was with the apostles for forty days after arising from the dead he continued to teach them and complete their understanding of what had occurred

In the last option, it suddenly hit me that Jesus had a soul like ours. We repeat it in the Creed, but I had trouble separating soul and divinity. Now it makes sense that He preached to the dead and needed both soul and divinity for that!

Even though Im not romam catholic, when I first read that passage it seemed to me that the interpretatiom was more close tonthe fourth option that Dr Pitre mention here. Thanks for this video, It brings me great comfort to know that Christ even saved those who had already left this world. God bless to everyone

Yes he went to preach to the souls under the old covenant, this confirms Ephesians 4:9, 10

I appreciate this teaching for its balance and presentation of both the strengths and weaknesses of each opinion on what the scripture is saying. Holy Spirit guide us into all of God's truth !

When I was young I heard a nun say when Jesus descended to the dead he was going to teach catechism. Even if this interpretation is wrong, I find it cute and holy!

I find it interesting that Christ’s decent coincides with the Sabbath. In fact, making it the final “old” Sabbath for the dead (what the dead would expect according to their Jewish faith and expectations) and beginning the new one on His resurrection Easter Sunday.

I am truly astounded with the explanation it was explained so vividly clear that even a commoner like who is biblically illiterate can comprehend. Thanks!

This great threshing of the mystery of this revelation makes me realize how difficult it is to understand the nature of God. I don’t know if it’s a worthy thing to understand or ponder but when Christ talks to the apostles about the necessity of his going to heaven in order that he might send the Holy Spirit strikes me in a similar way. Is it possible to comprehend why Our Lord must Ascend into heaven first before he sends the Holy Spirit upon the Church? Are these mysteries important to wrap our heads around? Do they just emphasize the Lord’s lesson to us that “ his ways are not our ways” I don’t know if any of what I said is important or minutia, all that these scriptures point to, for me, is the awesomeness of Our God. And I do love to think on them even if they aren’t possible to clarify.

Wisdom 16:13
For it is thou, O Lord, that hast power of life and death, and leadest down to the gates of death, and bringest back again

St. Epiphanius, Bishop of Cyprus (403 A.D.)
“He has gone to search for our first parent, as for a lost sheep. Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow the captives Adam and Eve, he who is both God and the son of Eve.

“The Lord approached them bearing the cross, the weapon that had won him the victory. At the sight of him, Adam, the first man he had created, struck his breast in terror and cried out to everyone: ‘My Lord be with you all.’ Christ answered him: ‘And with your spirit.’

“He took him by the hand and raised him up, saying: ‘Awake, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light! I did not create you to be held a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead!'”

Luke 16:19-31. Is a good example where Jesus went to preaching to the dead. In this parable it is made clear that there are two chambers where the dead reside. I due believe Jesus descended to preach to the dead people awaiting his return and not to the fallen angels. Jesus has power over all. Thanks to the pastor for the clarification to those who might not be as familiar or new readers of rhe bible. Let us remember that only through Jesus we are saved. Praise the Lord of lord's and King of kings and let us thank God for His love and Mercy.

🥳 10 Let me tell you how happy God has made me! For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and draped about me the robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels.

Says elsewhere that saints were seen walking around in Jerusalem around this time. A guess would be that they were released by Jesus exactly like it says.
