I always get choked up when I read that part with Jesus and the criminals. It makes me feel like I have a chance.

Jesus said to Mary while standing outside his tomb after being resurrected, "I have not yet ascended to the Father".

I look forward to eternity and learning and worshipping Him without distraction and the limits of an earthly body

The problem with ancient languages is punctuation;

"I say to you, today you will be with me in heaven..." versus

"I say to you today, you will be with me in heaven..."

BIG difference.

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

54 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!” Matthew 27 - Amen

“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:40‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
I believe Christ was being very clear in this passage where he was going after death on the cross.

Truly, you will be in paradise with me today.

Not sure I agree. I believe paradise typically referred to Abraham’s bosom. From what I understand. Typically. I think the man on the cross went with Jesus there. In Matthew 27 it talks about how saints rose from the grave and spoke to people. I think that’s who Jesus spoke to. I believe Jesus descended into the part of Hell called paradise where the saints were waiting in a peaceful place and He brought them out. The Bible teaches about Abraham’s Bosom in Jesus’ story about Lazarus and the rich man. Some actually believe it wasn’t a parable at all. Could be agrued. But you can't argue with this verse.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (Or Hell.)

I like a lot of these teaches but I’m not on board with this one sorry. Plus I’m not a big fan of different translations adding words that weren’t in the original Greek. Seems dangerous to me

If that is true, then it makes me love him more than I already do.

I disagree. And many historical theologians disagree. Jesus was in Abraham's Bosom delivering the OT saints to heaven because Hebrews 11 says OT saints cannot go to heaven without Jesus' atonement on the cross.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Psalm 16:10)

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew (12:40)

And he didn't need to go and suffer in hell to accomplish our salvation.... The work on the cross was sufficient •

How could he been to heaven if he told the women not to touch him after he resurrected because he had not been to the father yet?

Hi my name is Arthur Garrett when I was 13 years old I felt a sleep on Easter Sunday in Church and I had a dream The first part of the dream I seen a man on a cross. Then the second part of the dream
I went to a dark place and seen this Man with a brown robe on him grab these sparkly bright white shiny keys. The third part of the it was light and seen a path of gold bricks And I seen the man sandals his brown robe with a hood and I seen this man face and he smile at me . Then I woke up in church and this preacher went up In front of church and said JESUS Christ died on the cross went to hell to get the keys of hell and death and descended in Heaven . The Vision the Lord gave me when I was 13 years old am 36 now.

There are at least 15 passages that explain that Jesus went down into the bosom of Abraham and preach to cross a great gulf to the spirits that were in hell. Luke 16:9-31 is a good start

“It is finished” Christ said, so if he had to continue suffering in Hell for 3 days then it was not finished. TODAY you will be with me in paradise. My absolute favorite Bible verse. TODAY!!

Brother Bruce, why did you not continue with verse 9? It reads;
Now this, “He ascended”, what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?
Ephesians 4:9

Jesus also said, "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Matthew 12:40
