how to learn a language scientifically: speech sounds

Показать описание
heyo, what's good! it's inna :)
in this video--my first youtube video!--I borrow insights from linguistics (the scientific study of language) and developmental psychology in discussing how we might more effectively learn a language other than our own. this is the first episode of a series I'll be doing on language learning 101, and here, I tackle speech sounds. a major point in the video that I forgot to mention is that accents exist because of differences in speech sound inventories across languages!
this one's for anyone with even the slightest desire to learn a new language, & anyone curious about language & the human mind in general! I hope you find it helpful x
EDIT:
*I realise this wasn’t clear in the video, but at 19, when I took the JLPT, I’d studied Japanese for about a year & a half.
