Yes seems like years ago all the snooker players that went to 9 ball were all using their snooker cue however i reckon that wouldnt happen anymore. Im going to play chinese 8 ball nextime with a american cue just to see how i find it compared to the snooker cue i usually use.

you would want 13mm as a start and as you get better, you move to smaller diameter tips for nore cue control, spin/english. look at how many pros use predator z shaft or cf (11.XX). buy a 13mm shaft and a snooker cue to test things out.

I use a players rengas cue with a 11.75mm tip and I can play competivly on a british table but that is all I ever have used

I find as a beginner using a smaller size tip like snooker cue gives more precision but its harder to give pool cue ball enough spin

When I played league pool back in the early 90s I always used a single piece snooker cue and rarely lost 🤷🏻‍♂️
