Saw him in concert. He's not Freddie on stage as far as performance but voice-wise he is incredible. I was lucky enough to have seen Queen with Freddie in '82 and if you close your eyes, Marc is dead on in concert.

Marc has some good originals as well. Paradise, Stalemate, Straitjacket are just to name a few & his covers outside of Queen are great too, especially Unchained Melody.

7:04 - Freddie usually didn't sing the high notes in he studio. Roger Taylor did. That might explain Marc's choice.

Marc Martel notes:
Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza, " Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (a re-named UQC). He frequently tours central and eastern Europe, either with his band or with local musicians recruited for the tour. He's done concerts around the world, appearing multiple years in such far-flung locations such as Israel and Australia.

Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering, " where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. If they didn't have a good copy of Freddie singing something they wanted in the movie, it was purely Marc singing it. for some reason, they gave Marc almost ZERO credit in the movie and after. But, if it wasn't for Marc, that movie could never have been made. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01, " directly beneath it.

Marc has several albums of his own music out as well. In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. For Christmas 2020, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz, " a Frank Sinatra song. Marc has also released albums of his own music, traditional Christmas music, and other covers.

I love this one, another singer I had never heard before this site, it's why I love the variety here. I'll be looking not Marc's music. As always thank you for the reaction and commentary,

Good job! Yes, Marc is in the credits for the movie as additional vocals. And he was at Abbey Road London for over a month recording and working with Rami, so he could look like he was actually singing.

He literally hit Freddie’s isolated vocals like a champ! Truly gorgeous and chilling!

SWEET!!! I wasn't aware of Marc Martel before you shared this reaction! I'm a music novice compared to you but I instantly heard the different nuance of his performance! He proved early on in the song he is capable of anything! I will be checking him out soon. Thank you so much for sharing! Thanks to all for leaving comments! I learned so much!

He didn't hit the high note because he was staying with Freddy's vocal part. Roger sang the higher part. 👍🏻

My last Amen is one of my favorites as well, Downhere was an amazing band, check out How many Kings, beautiful song Marc wrote.
I am blessed to in some capacity to actually know Marc, his wife Crystal, and manager Josh. Marc is the most HUMBLE person I have ever met, yes, he filled in where needed for the BoRhap movie. His band One Vision of Queen is AMAZING, he has a YouTube channel. Thank you for your positive reaction, and God bless you!!!!

Marc is amazing. His Impersonator album is fantastic. There isn't a bad song on it. "The Remake"(High Hopes) is my favorite. Marc holds one note for an insane length of time.
P.s.The highest notes were actually sung by Roger Taylor not Freddie.

Great review! Check out Marc singing "Love of My Life " (studio version) you won't be disappointed.

For the 'original' Queen sound we grew up with - it's Marc Martel. The current Queen band is a different band with a different sound, not my cup of tea. Not anti-Lambert, loved his original albums that we on par with Pink on creative level.

A lot of people are getting upset that Marc Martel is replacing Freddie Freddie will never be replaced Marc Martel is celebrating Freddy in all of his songs that he sings just sounds so close to Freddy it's phenomenal but it's a celebration not a replacement

Marc and his OVOQ band are world famous now, and they're playing to sellout crowds around the world. So many young people never saw Freddie's live performance, but now they see what Freddie did to make Queen famous.
