Really helpful. Been having some trouble getting comfortable enough to have a steady hand with the touch on round tubing here lately. Been watching your videos for a while now and am making a shopping list to bust your store with. Thanks for the great advice and tips.👍💯

Thank you for all the hard work you put in Jodie. I've recently crossed that bridge from spending money on welding equipment to earning money using the equipment. All thanks to you, my hobby now earns me hard cash. I really appreciate your instructional video, it's my knowledge library. Best regards and thanks. Chris, Sheffield, England.
If you haven't yet bought a tig finger guys, you need to get one from Jodie, things go a lot smoother and look better.

I'm really enjoying these short project videos. Nothing against the longer instructional videos, those are great in their own right, too.

In my job, having done the exact same jobs with the same settings using both my old and new welder, I've found that having a watercooled unit makes a difference to the cleanliness of the puddle like you have here. Having tested and double checked every last possibility the only conclusion I can come up with was not a leak but simply hot gas. With the cooled hose and torch your gas is almost chilled as it comes up to the lens, with an air cooled unit (especially with the better thermal transfer of partial He in the mix) I find that it is always just that fraction less clean. I can't, or wont, say this is definitively the reason but it's the only one I can come up with as everything else was identical on very similar welds (Al 5053 15mm flange to 3mm wall tubing with 6053 rod). Perhaps you can look into this as your experience is way beyond mine, this is just what I found during testing why my welds were different.

That is quite some fabrication. Great to see, and some excellent video shots.

8:37 I used that same trick when I was tacking together a SS pipe and flange (on the outside). The flange was sucking all the heat away so I was jamming in filler and then came over it with a second torch-only pass to achieve a much better looking weld (probably with better fusion too, since the whole assembly was then "preheated" from the first pass).

man you make it look easy..
that said you inspired me to get an ac/dc square wave inverter tig and just have a go..
quite often ill do good then i goof up and dip the rod or tungsten then ill get the shits with it haha bought a pack of electrodes so i can just swap them rather than drop the torch to go sharpen the electrode this helps me not get to frustrated
i get a kick from building one off thing myself but it sux when things dont work out

Hi Jody
Well you mentioned the tig finger..
Well I would like to mention the tig finger
Today I was welding T6061 .062 to .125 in hard to reach places - I have had your tig fingers for several year and it seems that I would like to encourage everyone to have at LEAST 2 or 3 because I have had to use then on the torch hand as well as the feeder hand while doing different holding ways of the being welding item - when small and solid a lot of heat make's it very difficult to do.
Thanks Again

Your Tig finger is also lighter and easier to transport on jobs as well as consuming less real estate than a traditional finger prop method, even an old welding glove. 👍. Thanks for the video Jodi.

I have two of those CK 360° torches, one air cooled the other water cooled (both 2 series), and they both make high pitch noises, sounding like argon is turned up to high. I love the flexibility they give on welding out of position, but the noise is enough to give me a headache. I will have to weld some aluminum with them to see if I have similar issues as you did. I normally just use a CK 2 series normal torch to do aluminum and haven't had any issues.

This is a major reason why I bought my tig, I must make a tunnel ram intake for my big block mopar stroker engine

great Video Jody, I'm STILL amazed at how the TIG hose doesn't get in your way and how comfortable you are while welding...i'm still trying to get to that level of comfort...
