Introducing the Suzuki Jimny Commercial!

That’s right, the Jimny is back from its emission-regulations death, and it’s now a commercial vehicle!

So what do you get with the new Jimny? Well in terms of design… It’s exactly the same as the passenger version released back in 2018! However, don’t expect it to come with any thrills or mod-cons - it’s based on the entry-level edition. As a result, you’ll only find halogen headlights up front, and just steel wheels instead of alloys, to name just a few features.

However, there’s one key area of difference compared to the passenger edition - the rear seats have been stripped out and replaced with a cage! It makes for a suitably sizeable boot, however, with 836-litres available! Take a peek under the bonnet, and you’ll find exactly the same engine as before - the 1.5-litre petrol that can deliver 101hp & 130Nm.

The question is, should you really buy this for personal rather than professional use? And if so, can it really justify the increased £20,000 price tag?! Well, Mat’s about to find out!

Not gonna lie I actually like the steelies more than the original passenger wheel

We used the Jimmey mark I everywhere in Africa and it was awesome off road. Where the Pajeros and heavier stuff would bog down the Jimney would carry on! It’s bulletproof! Erm, literally. I actually got shot at in one (long story) and it took the round in the tailgate, saving me. Lot of time for this tough little car

To be fair, those steel wheels actually suit the Jimny more than the regular alloys. I really don't mind that and it actually looks like a proper off-roader.

Had a Jimny LCV for 2 weeks and love it. With so many modern cars beeping at you, admonishing you, instructing you it’s refreshing to have a car that you tell it what to do. Have also bought a Mercedes EQB in the last month, with a view to saving tax rather than the planet(sorry). Bought both from around London and drove them both 3 hrs back up to Lincolnshire. Got out the Jimny as fresh as a daisy. My back was killing me when I got out the EQB.

What kind of moronic rules do we have when a car designed especially to meet a class for small, economical cars is banned on emissions criteria yet things like a Range Rover supercharged is fine?
Come on - lets have a little common sense at least.

I had one for 5 days in Iceland. It didn't let me down at all. Brilliant little 4x4. Climbs everything can withstand abuse. Not the best in rivers because it's so light but still decent

We need these in America badly, a proper simple off roader that doesn’t break the bank.

4:23 I think this cargo room wall or cage is easy to remove and you can secure heavier load with regular cargo straps if you need to. If MOT doesn't like this wall missing during inspection then it can be put temporarily back with using 2 loosely tightened bolts.

Farmer spec, a proper little utility vehicle. The Defender starts at £38K! Pickups start from around £20K+VAT, but all are much much bigger

As someone who owns one of these there brilliant (bought via a business). I’m 5ft11 and I can get comfortable quite easily. Just finished a weeks holiday in the Peak District driving everyday to go walking and I never felt uncomfortable.

True you can’t drive it fast, but we knew that when we bought. Our only niggle is that it could do with a 6th gear as it does rev high on the motorway.

Those black handles and trim are optional extras called “M Sport” or “AMG Line” on other brands LOL

It's refreshing to see a simple and practical utility vehicle. Affordable, easy to work on, and some off-road capability. Perfect.

The perfect car for a couple who live in the mountains or country with their dogs. Not ideal for families or anyone who wants to use it mainly for commutes and urban settings. So, that's most people.

Headlamps are easy to replace, and the Jimny does look cooler on steelies. Payload is RUBBISH as F though.

I have the 2016 suzuki jimny dakota (ful option) with bf goodrich 215mm A/T tires, and I love it. Very reliable small 4x4 jeep. Never let you down, nothing ever breaks ( 81000 km ) and darn good in the terrain . Only on the highway with speeds above 100km/h it is not really fun to drive. I once did 145 km/h with it and then it's like you're going to fly off the road at any moment :), but ok, that's not what the jimny is made for and you know that when you buy it. If I had to do it over again, I would buy it back immediately . Very satisfied with .
