Suzuki Jimny 2023 review | Find out why I didn't go OFF-ROAD in this 4x4!

Is the Suzuki Jimny the most OVERRATED car on the market in Australia today?

You can be the judge after you watch this review, where I show you all the things that are bad about the 2023 Jimny 3-door model.

I'll also fill you in on some of the good stuff - but this is NOT an off-road review, as you'll see if you watch the entire video. Don't expect any 4WD off-roading, no trails or tracks, or mud or rock crawling. That's not what this review is about.

This review is designed to help you figure out if you could live with a Jimny as your only vehicle. Is it The Right Car? Let's find out...

I went for a Jimny after owning "fast" subarus and motorcycles for years and realizing i am on track to lose my license. I've also wanted a 4WD for years. I love my grom and i think "big" cars are a bit excessive for most people so i went a jimny, I'm about 2 months into ownership and still love it every day it is my main car, but I dont have kids or mates that need rides.

Had one for 12 months - auto. Best car I have ever had. You actually have to drive it unlike my previous corolla which had all the bells and whistles, but was boring because it practically drove itself. No complaints at all with the Jimny. I use it every day and have been off=road and camping with it. The auto does take a little time to get to 100 but once there it is easy to maintain without feeling as though you are thrashing the engine. I think reviewers are a little too critical and compare it to much more upper spec cars. Jimny doesn't pretend to have all the specs but it is an honest, reliable and fun car to drive. I usually have the back seats down. providing quite large storage. I occasionally have two passengers and for moderate trips the back seats are fine.

Love your content, man. That is really nice work. So simple and useful no BS. For me, the biggest problem is that Suzuki cannot allow customers to buy auto.

"Great job, Matt! I've been following your reviews since 2015 and always thought it would be amazing if you had your own channel. Keep up the good work and all the best wishes! 🍻 #CheersToSuccess"

So true for every day use but cute. Like the big doors but not the flimsy roof. Great watching. Thank you!

Lovely video and enjoyed it 😊. I got a top end automatic 5 door in India and I thing about it is, it’s a purpose built well engineered vehicle. It performs adequately on highways and adding a Throttle Controller just makes it so much better. Offroad is a different story, it’s a beast there, those are its own territory. The compact dimensions make it a great city vehicle and for tough trails as well. Overall very satisfied with the purchase and enjoying every bit of the IBEX. This one is definitely a keeper.

You're definitely one of the better car reviewers in Australia Matt and I wish you the best for your channel. The thing is, it's a small complaint but can you ditch the sound of a VCR loading between segments? It's bloody annoying!

A bit off topic but I'm 81 & have had since new a 1998 Suzuki Jimny. Over 200, 000 klm's with a fair bit of off roading & it still drives like the day I first drove it. That is except with a little hesitation in the auto change from 2nd to 3rd. Still all origional with nothing major components replaced except for normal repair items.
If this newest model is built like the older ones then it will be truly worth buying.
Love my older Jimny & would never consider anything else.

Great video! Booked the 5 door Jimny here in India. The 5 door version's cabin space is almost similar to the 3 door version. It is striclty a 4 seater. But yes, the boot is more spacious.

The negatives? When it comes to the Jimny, nearly everything is a compromise except for it's off-road capability. As standard the Jimny is a 4x4 capable vehicle but by the time you have converted it into a capable 4x4 vehicle, you have spent up to a third of the original sales price in upgrades. Everything with the Jimny revolves around weight and everything you add to the Jimny adds weight — certainly the owners of 4x4 pickup-trucks have an easier life when it comes to overlanding compared to those in Jimnys.

I had the previous version and I loved it. I did also a 6000 km trip in Europe with that with no problem. Now I have the Jeep jl 2 door and with that you can’t travel: the seat are more comfortable but the noise is horrible. And to go in the back is much harder than the Jimny. If in USA Jimny was available that would be my car.

I own a Jimny and was shocked and very happy, to discover I could fit a small suitcase (onboard cabin size) in the boot, behind the back seat.

This video reminds me watching reviews on Caradvice, Matt and Paul are the best. Paul has done a good channel on his own, but I would like to see some reviews from different angles. Matt, you review is very informative, short and sharp with pros and cons of the car, well done! The reason I watch Jimny as the first one is because I ordered a black auto in Dec and look forward to taking it home in May.

Suzuki needs to consider 3 door along with 5 door because unlike Oz back home it’s has competes with many Suv like Thar, Gurkha and force Citiline

Check out the reviews of the 5-door versions released in India. Still a 4-seater, but much bigger boot, and slightly longer wheel-base etc. etc. I hope to buy it for use at my parents' home that is in a remote village. Village roads. Excellent shock absorbers on bad roads, and more confidence to drive out of there when it is raining. 6 airbags, cruise control etc.

You’ve made a video out of the everything that’s obvious about the Jimny - and that’s the exact reason why it’s in huge demand🤘🤘😁
