I think the bigger issue here is the plethora of grown men calling themselves "The Hammer" and the people who are apparently paying grown men who call themselves "The Hammer" for legal advice.

One of John Oliver's head writers is Daniel O'Brian, who used to be a senior staffer at Cracked. And cracked did a whole video about the different hammer lawyers in like 2014 before all the controversy, and I'm 90% sure it's where John got the story from

Back in the 70s I was involved in a multi-car accident. There was a "lawyer" camped out at the hospital. He came into the ER and after the doctors had seen us, he went from person to person handing out business cards.

This sounds like an interesting analysis, but really, how am I to trust the word of a hammerless lawyer?

What baffles me the most about this is how those commercials could possibly be beneficial for those lawyers.
A screaming man who calls himself "The Hammer" is the last person on earth I would entrust with my legal issues.
