Had a vertical c-section. Why are things like this not a part of standard post surgery care?

Yes massage if you are trained by a specialist…but honestly I had horrible tenderness for 2 years because the incisions were placed right where clothing seams are. I struggled until my dermatologist recommended simple 3M paper tape. It’s like $3 a roll. You can get it wet, it’s breathable and it absolutely works to get you to a place where you can again wear clothing.

I had emergency surgery almost 4 years ago for a twisted bowel caused by scar tissue. I now have a foot long scar down my abdomen. I am guilty of folding forward because of the pain. No one told me to stretch to keep the mobility in my abdomen. It scares me what kind of scarring has been growing in my gut these last four years.

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2000. Had a hysterectomy, chemo and radiation. The radiation caused strictures and adhesions all throughout my abdomen as a result I've had 8 more major abdominal surgeries. Left ureter stricture, right ureter stricture, colon stricture(colon ressection, ) multiple small bowel obstructions(opened up 2 weeks apart for lysis of adhesions) bowel perforation ( opened up again a week after my kidney transplant to fix a tear in my bowel), auto transplant of my rt kidney in order to fix my rt ureter. Use of small bowel in order to fix my left ureter, Cholecystectomy. Adhesions have not been my friend. My cancer was stage 1. I completed my 6 week treatment and thought everything was fine and boom 2 years later this nightmare began. 24 years later still dealing with the after math (short bowel syndrome, malabsorption etc...)

So glad I have seen this. My physical practices have suffered due to abdominal surgery years ago and not on therapist who I have mentioned it to has listened or know what they are doing - very frustrating! I’m a rock doctor and this will be my next step bcos abdominal surgery isn’t fun and I’d love to help myself and others. I have actually considered I may not be able to hold a baby due to the scars and during my rehab we never once worked on the adhesions just the muscle loss. Thank you

I cut my fingers badly on a table saw, it’s been two months since the main surgery. The dr had to make a new incision as well a couple weeks ago to assist in removing the pin he placed in my finger. The incision was in the middle of my finger length wise. I have heavy fibrosis at the joint of my first knuckle where it bends.

Understanding the physiological of what’s going on and how I need to massage it helps a lot. In a scar which direction do the fibrosis ‘threads’ run? Length wise or horizontally? Hope that question makes sense?

Very interesting video, thank you. Would this be an appropriate treatment for 30 year old caesarean scars sticking to the bladder?

What of the possibility of scarring being created days, weeks, years after the surgery? How will the body position affect or not affect scar tightening or restricting?

Using the techniques in the video to help relieve tissue scarring pain from an inguinal hernia surgery. I has been about 3 years since I had the surgery I still get pain from the scar tissue tearing.
