Before I got my CDL I learned how to float gears and double clutch, on test day I asked my tester which method he preferred. He said “I don’t care just safely operate the truck” floated all those gears lol

I received my CDL license in January, I tested in an automatic. I didn't know how to drive a manual 10 speed, but the company that hired me is just going to automatics, they were an all manual fleet. I told them I didn't know how to operate a manual 10 speed, but I was willing to learn. With these helpful tips, the video, and my trainer...I learned in 2 weeks total time. I've been shifting (double clutching lol) like a BOSS!!! (floating I have the idea just not 100% confident...yet!) Thank you Helpful Trucker!!!!

I find this very helpful by providing camera footage on clutch. I just failed my CDL driving portion all because I couldn’t quite get the double clutching to go smoothly. I went to a “training” center that I only got be on the truck 4 days for 2 1/2 hrs per day. I felt I needed more training than that. At least I passed the maneuvers with flying colors. I will apply this technique you used on the clutch. I will test again in a week and a half

Thank you for the great video. Last week, I was put in the driver's seat and had no prior coaching. The instructor yelled at me, in rage, the whole way. I just wanted to get out of the truck and walk back to the shop in the driving snow. It would have been less frostier than how it felt in the truck.
