I want the bigger battery, more RAM and faster chip of the Legion Go 2. I guess I'll have to put SteamOS on it myself. Windows isn't a good experience on these devices. I also wish they'd move the second USB C on the Go 2 to the top because having it on the bottom makes it very difficult to use.

I don't understand Adam's comment that you can't use the Lenovo Legion with SteamOS on it as a desktop and that you can't use other launchers on it. Unless Lenovo does something weird you can use SteamOS as a desktop and you can use other game-launchers on it. The easy way for the other game-launchers is by using a Flatpak, that isn't my favorite way to use software but it definitely works. However, you can also just install Lutris, Heroicgames and other tools, that just requires a bit more work. If you want to use the desktop, just start up KDE from the shutdown-menu and you have a fully functional desktop, you can use the browser, use office-software, render video's, make animations with Blender, make drawings, write code and compile it...whatever you like to do.

I know everyone is on about the steam OS but, Id rather deal with the Windows jank for the flexability to run any other type of program i want. Plus, I can hook up an audio interface, connect a bluetooth midi foot controller, and use it as a portible guitar rig.

Can we install windows 11 in steam os version later 🤔?

If the steamOS version can be bought for $100 less in the higher 32gb ram config and has the same specs as the Windows version, what stops us from installing windows on that😂? I’d do it for $100 discount

The Steam OS variant is going to sell out immediately and probably be hard to get for a while.

I never understood the reason for removable controllers, and I have never used that silly mouse mode, also never used the rear buttons on any of these devices including controllers, no game I have played has used them by default, I find them all redundant, they could reduce costs by making a device without all of that junk, all of these extra buttons on the Legion Go are just plain annoying, and if they put another undersize battery in any of these devices, I will not buy one again, I have battery anxiety now from owning a Legion Go, they should stop f'ing about and make these devices with dual hot-swappable batteries, it can be done, I have tablets that have this feature, and its the one thing I would like to see on a future handheld game console, the current hardware is good enough, its the battery setup that needs improving.

1600p resolution on the Go 1 was lowkey actually better for performance and power efficiency because you can integer scale from 800p when playing more demanding games. It really depends on each game.

I'm confused with the pricing. When you say $500 is it $499 or $599? Best Buy listed the Z2 Go 1TB/32GB for $729.

Anyone know where I can grab the Z1E version? Best Buy only lists the Z2Go which is apparently less powerful.

Really looking forward to the new Legion Go 2 Oled. Pity it's not gonna be available just yet and all we have is a prototype. Also Good job teaming up with Retro Game Corps at CES, he was telling some stories about joining with you guys on this week's NerdNest Podcast.

Adam - I am surprised you didn't mention Gamepass is one big reason to get the Windows version. Lots of xbox fans want an easy point of entry to PC gaming. They probably lack a game collection and Gamepass gives you an instant library of games on the go.

PCMR on full display there. He almost threw up in his mouth when he said "console". Windows 11 is a temporary problem, later this year Microsoft is looking to bring a more console-like Windows experience to handhelds.

I for one hope Microsoft starts scaling back their dedicated console focus and go full speed into handhelds. This is exactly how they lost the mobile phone race. They focused on a strong but declining market in PocketPC while ignoring what Apple was doing.

With the $700 PS5 Pro, consoles are quickly losing their price advantage. If Microsoft can nail porting Xbox OS to Windows, they'll have a solid foothold for the future.
